Writing Contest

Here’s a great opportunity to exercise your creative writing chops and maybe win a prize!

The Maine Women Writers Collection invites students, staff and faculty of the UNE community to respond to “A Gateless Garden” exhibit at the Ketchum Library Art Gallery this fall. 

Deadline for entries: November 1, 2016

How to participate: Visit “A Gateless Garden” in September or October. Choose a photograph or quotation that sparks your creative inspiration.  Send us your poems, stories, recollections, essays or other response (500 word limit; up to two per person) based on a photograph or a quotation. Make sure to tell us which photograph or quotation inspired you. 

Send your entries to jnavicky@une.edu no later than 5pm on November 1, 2016. 

At the end of the semester, we’ll host an event (date TBA) where you can read your piece in the Ketchum Library Art Gallery, eat some festive snacks and find out which pieces won. Winners will receive prizes! 

Please encourage your students to participate. All UNE community members are welcome to enter.
