My Name Grace

Grace Sabatino

ENG 123

On April 17th 2000 marathon monday at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston my parents were handed god’s loving gift of Grace Catherine Sabatino. My parents wanted to name me Grace because it meant God’s gift and after my auntie cathy had past away they wanted to make my name meaningful. This is were they decided to name me Grace Catherine which means Gods gift of pureness. My name means stability, loving family or community, and a need to work with others and to be appreciated. When I was reading all these stories about my name I realized that most of what they talked about being very good at understanding and analyzing situations is what I am all about. For me I am very good at problem solving and I am a kind of person that my friends feel comfortable coming to for advice on anything they are having troubles with.

As a kid I grew up thinking my name was strange and I don’t completely understand what it meant and why I had it but I learned that my parents were going to name me Catherine after my Auntie Cathy had passed away but they wanted a name also that was original to them so that is were Grace Catherine came to mind. I feel blessed to have a name with such a beautiful meaning because I do have a strong faith and my name is all about faith. Grace means God moving heaven and earth to save sinners who could not save themselves. Grace means God sending his only Son to descend into hell on the cross so that our sins were forgiven by God and received into heaven. Grace also means forgiveness and I am a very forgiving person. One thing that I learned from my family is to always be forgiving and to move past anything that bothered me and to always be strong and to stand up for myself and finding that is what my name intels is crazy to me. I can now feel the connect with what has happened in my life and my name and how everything has played out. I feel that my name defines who I am perfectly and show what’s I am all about. After reading all these stories about what my name is I have a deeper appreciation towards being given this name because it uniquely makes up who I am as an individual.
